Widener University students attend an 'International Student Welcome Reception' hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

On Friday, October 5 2012, several international students attended the International Student Welcome Reception with great enthusiasm.

An annual event hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, the International Student Welcome Reception celebrates multicultural education and international students from all over the world. With representation from over 50 area collegiate programs, the International Student Welcome Reception is great way to meet even more international students that have made the decision to study in the USA.

Students gather at the Penn Museum for an evening of entertainment

This event drew nearly 1000 students and scholars from 85 different countries around the world. Event attendees were welcomed in the beautiful Chinese Rotunda of the Penn Museum. Sampling a variety of international foods and entertained by dance troupes representing different cultures, the evening was filled with fun and excitement.

Various college and community performing arts groups shared their talent and skills with the international guests. Hype - Penn University's multicultural fusion dance group; Penn Chinese Dance Group; Thillana - Penn's premier student classical dance group; Mutya - a Filipino dance group; La Salle University's Neo-African Drums 'n Dancez; Rowan University musicians; and Anne Hagert from the University of the Arts all volunteered their time and expertise to entertain the international students.

The evening was filled with lively conversation, international cuisine and excellent entertainment by performing arts groups exploring multicultural styles.
