Widener University should be ranked higher

- based on its graduates' high salaries

Business Insider, a US business and technology news website, has named Widener University on a list of the Top 25 Most Underrated Colleges in America. This unusual but insightful ranking of US universities is compiled by comparing the annual U.S. News & World Report "America's Best Colleges" rankings with the mid-career salaries of university graduates.

"Future income isn't the only factor that should determine college choice, but it may be the most important one," the Business Insider story begins. Business Insider's "Top 25 Most Underrated Colleges in America" looks at how well popular college rankings align with the future income of graduates. It identifies some majorly underrated and overrated Universities in America.

The Business Insider study plots the U.S. News & World Report rankings versus PayScale's annual College Salary Report. Widener University is #319 highest graduate earnings in PayScale's College Salary Report of over 1,000 US universities.

The results of the comparison place Widener University as #25 most underrated college in the USA. This means Widener graduates' success – measured by average mid-career salary – is much higher than its ranking suggests.

"Almost 30% of Widener University students major in business and 22% major in health professions, which may explain why graduates have such high mid-career salaries at an average of $78,200," Business Insider writes.
